This flight flies nearby the majestic and legendary Superstition Mountains, one of the most popular and legendary mountain ranges in Arizona. From Apache Indians and mexican miners to Jacob Waltz’s lost gold mine, the Superstition Mountains hold as much legend and lore as they do incredible beauty! Flight near the Superstition Mountains require a strong knowledge of local wind conditions and weather situations. Your pilot has been flying this area for over 25 years and knows the wind and terrain extremely well. This allows us to provide the most scenic and enjoyable flight based on wind direction on your flight morning.

We meet 1 hour before sunrise at the luxurious and beautiful Gold Canyon Golf Resort where you will be greeted by your pilot and ground crew chief. Then, we will take a short drive out to our scenic desert launch site where you will enjoy a beautiful Arizona sunrise as the giant 90,000 cubic foot balloon is inflated. Soon your pilot will ask you to ‘hop in’ and you will gently rise from the desert floor to meet another beautiful Arizona morning! Once in the air, your flight will take you to altitudes that will afford views of the rugged Superstition Wilderness as only can be experienced from the basket of a hot air balloon! Your pilot has spent many years hiking and exploring many of the trails in the Superstition Wilderness and is very knowledgeable of the topography in this area as well as the history in which this area is steeped in. He may even know where the Lost Dutchman goldmine is located! (he probably will not share that much information with you though!). Your pilot will skillfully maneuver the balloon to low altitudes and even spend some time maneuvering within feet of the desert floor. At this time, you may be able to spot wildlife such as javalina, coyote, fox, deer and rabbits. On very rare occasions, we have even seen herds of desert bighorn sheep. Your pilot will also point out the various different forms of plant life that make up this very green and beautiful piece of Sonoran Desert. We typically launch and fly near and just south of the Superstition wilderness boundary, between Gold Canyon and Queen Valley.

After a flight of approximately 1 to 1.5 hours aloft, you will be brought gently back to earth and then enjoy a traditional champagne toast as well as presentation of your Ascension Certificates, suitable for framing. Our Gold Canyon flight is offered at sunrise only due to the favorable morning winds in this area.

Lake Pleasant

This spectacular and beautiful flight soars over rugged mountains and Sonoran Desert terrain!

Often times, we launch within the Heiroglyphic Mountains, just West of Lake Pleasant. Wind direction will ultimately determine our choice of launch site, with our goal to fly you over the desert mountains and near or over Lake Pleasant!

We meet 1 hour before sunrise conveniently near Interstate 17 and Carefree Highway in North Phoenix. From there, we will take a short drive to one of several launch sites, dependant upon the wind direction. As we lift off with the sunrise (just peeking over the distant McDowell Mountains). Lake Pleasant quickly comes into view.

The early morning sun shines and glistens across the lake. Wind direction and speed permitting, we may even cross over a portion of the lake. This flight can vary in altitudes from low level flying across the ridgetops to high altitude for expansive views of the rugged Heiroglyphic Mountains, Bradshaw Mountains and Lake Pleasant. We will also spend portions of the flight skimming desert hills, mountains peaks, Saguaro cacti covered ridgetops and beautiful Sonoran Desert valleys. Wildlife sightings are very common! Javelina, coyote, deer, fox, jackrabbits and other small creatures. We also often times see the wild burro on this flight!

After a flight of approximately 1 to 1.5 hours aloft, we will land and partake in our traditional champagne toast. Your pilot will then present you with Ascension Certificates, suitable for framing. This is a sunrise flight only, due to the more favorable early morning winds in this area.

Maricopa area

This is our sunset flight! This flight launches in the beautiful Vekol Valley! Flying near the Sonoran Desert National Monument.

Meeting location is centrally located in Maricopa, an easy half hour drive from Chandler. We meet 2 hours prior to sunset. Your flight will launch out of the beautiful unspoiled desert of the Vekol Valley! Take in the flora of the Sonoran Desert, as we skim across the earths surface, before climbing to an altitude to enjoy amazing and spectacular views of the remote Sonoran Desert National Monument, the Sierra Estrella Mountains, Hidden Valley and many others desert hills and peaks. Wildlife sightings are common.

Be prepared to witness a beautiful Arizona sunset, dipping down behind the Gila Bend Mountains, from the basket just prior to touching back down to earth! After a flight of approximately 1 hour aloft, we will land and partake in our traditional champagne toast. Your pilot will then present you with Ascension Certificates, suitable for framing.

This flight is a sunset flight and is only available November thru March. While we highly recommend our Lake Pleasant or Gold Canyon flights for a sunrise flight, we do make this flight area available at sunrise as well.
